Starting with Windows seemingly not working

In my configuration, I have DOpus set to start with Windows (and I've tried it with and without the startup delay)

dopusrt.exe does indeed start with Windows, and "Directory Opus Helper Application" sits proudly in my task manager.

However, I also have a floating toolbar docked above my taskbar that acts as my program launcher - this doesn't appear until I double click on my desktop to open a lister.

This has been happening for ages now but I'm 99% sure that it used to appear automatically (i.e. without me having to open a lister first)

How can I fix this?

Check on the Startup tab in Task Manager that you have two entries for Opus:

The "Helper Application" handles desktop double-click; the other entry is Opus itself, and floating toolbars won't appear unless that is also running.

I only have the Helper in that Start-up tab - how do I get the other one in there?

//edit: I unticked "Launch on startup" in settings and then reticked it, that's sorted it. Thanks Jon.

I wonder if there's a bug with the settings import - if that "Launch on startup" box is unticked at first install, and I then restore my configuration from an .ocb file that ticks the box, perhaps that doesn't trigger the application to be put into the Start-up tab?

That setting isn't really part of the configuration at all, and won't be imported or exported (at least from what I remember of how it works). It's on if the startup shortcut exists on the current machine, and off if it doesn't. Toggling it creates or deletes the shortcut.

If it was on but not working before, something was probably blocking the old shortcut from working. Deleting it and re-creating it must have fixed things. (Might relate to all the issues people have been having with Windows Defender while it still considered our renewed Authenticode certificate was untrusted until it had seen it on enough different machines to trust it again.)
