# Stop DO from automatically closing

Please point me to the setting that will change DO from closing every time I switch to a different window. I would like DO to stay open and on the folder file I left it at. Right now, it closes each time I switch to a new window and I need to restart DO. TIA Joe

When you say a new window, do you mean another application, or a second Opus window?
Opus doesn’t normally close its windows by itself when just switching from one window or application to another.

I've been doing some testing with my wide monitor that has split screens enabled using Dell Display software. I noticed that whenever I switch to a program that's not Directory Opus (DO) on the same side as the open DO window, DO closes. However, if DO is open on the other side and I switch to a different program, it stays open. This behavior is consistent on both sides of the monitor. I also tested this with Windows Explorer, and the issue doesn't occur—it's only happening with DO.

If you open two Opus windows in both locations and do the same thing, do both close or only one?
Does the problem still happen without the Dell Display software running?
