Strange behavior of key "Properties"

If you select 2 or more folder and then click with the right mouse button "properties", then tells you the size and number of files totals for all selected folders

But if I use the button on the toolbar, to me indicates the properties only the first folder

I tried old version (9.1.0.6) and work perfect

Even with the files is the same problem

Good catch... i'll report it.

Note that properties item in context menu is a Windows item, not a DO's item...

Yes, I can confirm this problem for V9.1.1.0!

System properties dialog (via rightclick) works fine.

DOpus properties command (accessed via toolbar or alt-enter) shows properties of the first selected file/folder only.

Hoping for a quick bug fixed new version, since I use this feature quite often!

Did it behave differently in the past?

Yes, Birba tried 9.1.0.6 and it worked ok
I tried 9.0.0.6 and it also works ok

9.1.1.0 only shows the properties of the first selected file or folder

Note that the Help file says:
The Properties command lets you access the system Properties dialogs for files and folders.
When used with no options, it displays the Properties dialog for all selected files and folders
(if more than one file is selected, a special combined Properties dialog is shown).
I can't reproduce this at all in 9.1.1.0.

Are we talking about two folders in the same directory? (No collections or shortcuts or anything like that.)

Is it a normal directory? (Not a virtual one like Desktop.)

I've tried on Vista (32-bit) and Win2k and a button which runs Properties shows properties for multiple files/folders the same as the context menu does.

Yes, normal directory's. It doesn't matter what i select:
Files only, folders only, files and folders...

The button just shows the properties of the first selected item.

Either it's only broken on XP (I haven't tried there yet) or I'm doing something different to everyone else. It definitely works for me.

(The folder at the top only has 37 files within it.)

It's broken the same way on my computer, too.

What's even more interesting is that using the SINGLE argument with the Properties command works (it does bring up a separate Properties dialog for each selected item), but the second dialog and all subsequent ones only appear after an unbeliveably long delay, something in the range of 10-15 seconds.

This part reminds me of the long standing "desktop shortcut icon => right-click and select Properties => Find Target... => Cancel = 10-15 seconds wait before the Shortcut Properties dialog disappears" bug that's been with us since version 8.

Oops, forgot to add: I'm running XP SP2.

Make a test

Leo Change directory .... Desktop folder, the problem does not occur

Here's the screenshot from XP (SP3):

Since the question came up.

I have this problem using DOpus' 64bit version on XP x64.

back to 9.1.0.6 for now (problem solved!).

Workaround:

Create a button which runs this:

ContextMenu VERB=Properties

Now that I'm on XP I see the problem as well, and that workaround fixes it. Seems like something that is broken on XP but not Win2k or Vista. How odd.

From what I remember there isn't much Opus can do about that. Explorer sits around waiting for an Explorer window to open up but one never does because an Opus window is opened instead. (At least, that was the theory I heard. I don't know if it's correct.)

For me it does not work even on Vista

This is strange ... I created a button using the code Leo posted above and it works for me (WinXP sp3)

No no...the button work

Said the bug, which is present in XP and Vista
