I am a totally newbie with Dopus, and, probably like many others, am a bit overwhelmed by all the possibilities. It comes to me very highly-recommended, so am I sure that it will grow on me as time goes on.
Somehow, without intending to, it created a kind of "Floating Toolbar." It might be useful, but I'm not there just yet. In addition, in several of my programs, the Control-D is an important hotkey, and in each case, it has a function specific to that program.
However, the Control-D in this mysterious Toolbar means "Add to Favorites", and it seems that the DOpus Cojntrol-D takes precedence over that particular hotkey inside the program that I am using. So the Control-D that I need (my current program) is being replaced by one that I do not need (Add to Favorites).
My Questions:
How do I close that Toolbar?
How do I release the Ctrl-D from DOpus, so that I can use it in my other programs?
It sounds like you have just accidentally floated the menu toolbar by dragging it out of the Lister. The easiest way to fix it is to go to Settings / Customize, and turn off the Floating Toolbar option (see image below.)
When a toolbar is floating any hotkeys assigned to that toolbar become global - this is why you've lost Ctrl-D in other programs, but as soon as you unfloat the toolbar this problem will be solved.
You can also lock the toolbars (right-click on an empty space on the toolbar and choose the Lock option) to prevent accidentally dragging it out in the future.
If you right click in an empty space in the lister header, you will find "toolbars". You can find the specific toolbar & uncheck it.
For the ctrl-D part, have a look in -> options -> customize -> keys (tab), if you can find the Ctrl-D item there, or it is assigned to one of the buttons in the main toolbars. You can reassign it do some other combination.
