I can pre-fill the 'set creation time' settings two ways: 'Now' button, or whatever I used the last time I set a creation date, no matter how remote from the current task that was. I sometimes find myself updating a single file, and wanting its current creation & modified times pre-filled in those boxes, so I know what I'm changing from. Maybe I'm just adding an hour, something like that. (don't want to hand-copy from the Date/Time columns where seconds aren't displayed anyway)
Use the metadata panel (or dialog, if preferred) to do that.
