Suggestion for improved list function

From time to time when I am working on renaming files in a lister, I encounter an awkward situation.
Sometimes a small info box pops-up giving some data on the file.

Usually when this happens I am working entirely from the keyboard. When I type the box obscures the text I am typing and doesn't go away when I type. However, if I move the mouse (clicking it is not necessary) the box goes away. My suggestion (request) is that Opus be modified so that keyboard activity will also close the box automatically.

I just encountered this when manually renaming a large folder of files. With in-line renaming feature and a pane open to view the file contents, the down-arrow key moves to the next file with the in-line renaming active for it. This goes quite fast; however, when the box pops-up that slows things down because I have to move my hand to the mouse.

Is this a reasonable improvement to make?

The infotips should already close when you use the arrow keys to change files. Is that not the case for you?

How are you causing them to open? By the mouse being over a file, or by holding Ctrl down, or another method? (I tried both and the infotips always closed when i pushed the up or down arrow keys.)

Are we talking about the List file display mode? (I tried that and Details mode.)

(All tests done with the current Opus 12 public beta, but I think should also be the same in Opus 11.)

You can also turn off or change how infotips get displayed via Preferences / File Displays / Options / Enable file InfoTips... and the settings below it.

One way it happens (just tried some tests) is: after I down-arrow to the next filename, if I click where I want to edit with the mouse but the mouse pointer then floats to the file above when I release the mouse, the box pops-up about the time I get my hand back to to keyboard. It seems that it also happens sometimes when I am navigating horizontally from the keyboard, but I couldn't justify that just now.

I am aware of the Preferences method to turn off the infotips, but I frequently want to use them to verify the thumbnails of image files. So I don't want to have to dig into the Preferences menu to toggle back and forth. It seems that the smoothest way to avoid the problem would be for the program to close the box whenever a key is pressed.

Sounds like a hardware issue! o) Stiff mouse cord or tension on it can result in mouse pointers moving on their own. o)
