Suggestion: Include the version in the installer filename

Hey there guys, hope you're all doing well.

Currently, all downloaded Directory Opus installers use the filename DOpusInstall.exe. I was wondering if you would consider incorporating the program version in the filename for future versions to make it easy to see what version you are about to install.

A suggested format could be: DOpus-Installer-12.24.exe or similar.

Thanks heaps
Fotis

You can easily append the version, e.g.

Thanks for the tip, but I think it's ideal if the application is distributed with that information included. This is common practice among almost all other applications I use and I think it's nicer to see the version in the download from the official site.

I think it's easier without, because there's no need to change the links for each update - I can undestand that.

But what's the problem? How often do you install DO? You can add the versionumber after download. In most cases the filenames are not the way you want them (with underlines, lower-case, shortened name,...) and have to rename them.

Hey guys, I appreciate your point of view but I'm just making a suggestion which I think will make the downloaded installer version more transparent. As I mentioned, almost all of the very large catalog of software I use does this and I just think it'll be nice to see here too.

Some examples of installers that provide the program version in their installer are Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher, Sublime Text, KeePassXC, BizHawk, AutoHotKey, PowerShell, HashTab, Firefox, Macrium Reflect, and I could go on for a few pages

However, I completely respect the decision of the Directory Opus devs if they don't wish to add this. It was just a mere tiny suggestion that I noticed when browsing through my backup drive where I store all my software installers. I don't see it as a point for debate really, if should be trivial for the devs to incorporate if they wish as part of their build system.

That's all I have left to say on this subject. As I said, I didn't really expect people to debate such a trivial request, but here we are.
