Problem with Drag and Drop of files/folders between lists.
When I start DO - Drag and Drop (D&D) works - after a period of using DO, D&D stops working. Clicking a file on one "side" selects the file, but file does not "drag across" to destination.
If I then close DO, and restart DO, D&D works again. Sometimes if I close and reopen within a few seconds, the D&D is still disabled.
Weird!
I am using DO 12 Version 12.2 x64, build 6135 18/10/2016.
I have not changed any settings.
Any suggestions as to where I could look or what I should change to restore the D&D functionality?
That sounds very odd, indeed. Do you have any security suites or similar on your machine? I suppose, it happens with Opus only? I have just read some advice, concerning a similar issue, to keep a left click on a file, & then to push the "Escape" button, before releasing the left click, to re-enable the drag & drop. Maybe this would work for you, too?
Drag & drop involves a conversation between two or more windows (it can include windows you drag over on the way from source to destination), and in general that conversation has to finish before another one can start.
Usually, that is fine, but sometimes one side takes a long time or gets stuck and forgets to hang up the phone, in a sense, which blocks the window from doing more drag & drop activity.
Working out what is happening may require noticing when the problem happens, and which applications, file types or folders are involved on the source and destination side, and potentially which are dragged over.
Security software like antivirus can also get in the way, as abr says. As can things like Remote Desktop, Virtual Machines, etc. which will try to make the drag & drop data available to another machine and can complicate things (but usually do not and are generally fine; just something extra to keep in mind when thinking about possible causes).
thank you for your suggestion - unfortunately this does not work for me.

I am dragging and dropping files within DO - i.e. a file from left folder to the right and vice versa. No other software is being used when I am experiencing this glitch.
The problem occurs with many file types - zip, exe, pdf, doc, etc, and I experience the same problem regardless of whether I am moving/copying a folder or a file
The "background" apps I have running are no different to when I started using DO verison 12.1.0. This problem only "manifested" since I upgraded to version 12.2.0. I have uninstalled 12.2.0 and reinstalled 12.1.0 and the problem persists.
I have resorted to using cut and paste shortcut keys - drag and drop still only works if I close DO and reopen the application. Drag and drops works once, then fails. I can restore the functionality by closing and opting the app (as previously described)
I hope this problem disappears in a future version. In the mean time short cut keys and opening and closing the app will have to suffice.

Very frustrating, I'm sure, but doesn't that suggest that the cause of the problem may be somewhere other than Opus.
Did you or can you restore an Opus configuration backup that was current before the problem "manifested"?
In addition to what Jon asked, does it happen more noticeably with certain paths? I ask because I see this much more frequently in v12 than v11 with Android devices (MTP) involved. But to be fair - I've seen it in v11 as well... but I've also seen it with busy external drives or network paths, where - after some time when activity has died down, I'll get a flood of drop menu dialogs popping up and interesting things happen depending on where I've clicked the mouse while originally waiting for the drop menu to appear.
@russellsouthey
ref your initial post - if the drag&drop doesn't work - maybe it will help to just hit the 'Esc' key whilst dragging.
(i.e. somewhere in the midst of dragging hit Esc)
Just a tip. It usually works with me and certainly is faster than closing down all everything and rebooting...
which would then be the 'ultimate solution'.
That said, it would be nice indeed if there was a convenient way to find what has been the culprit of the messed up drag and drop.
