Switching panes without losing file selection (preferably with a keystroke)

In dual pane mode, if I have some files selected on the left and I switch focus to the right pane, how can I switch back to the left pane (preferably with a keystroke, not with the mouse) without losing the file selection in the left pane? If I use the tab key to switch back to the left, I end up with only one file selected. Thanks!

Using the tab key preserves the selection for me, at least.

(I tried with both settings under Preferences / File Displays / Options / Tab Key (Options).)

Thanks. Ctrl-Tab does preserve the selection. I would like to figure out why I lose selection when just using the tab key.

Have you configured your tab key to do something else?

You could also configure another Hot Key.

Thanks David, that will work. I don't have Tab set to anything else, to answer Jon. I assigned the enter key to the toggle function, and that does work.

You may want to think more about using Enter.
Enter opens the first selected file here.

Thanks, good point. I changed it to the tilde key. Works better for me using the left hand anyway.
