I'm a new DirOpus owner, and I've just searched the forums for questions about this. Found many similar questions, but none that really address this problem.
I'm trying to sync one folder to another, one way. And for the life of me, I can't figure out how to alter the selected file actions between hitting the Compare and Synchronize buttons, to prevent certain files from being synced/deleted. Also, the behavior and position of the 2 file windows is completely random and confusing to me, seeming to switch chaotically.
- I open the 2 panes to the 2 dirs I want to sync.
- Open the Synchronize panel from the Tools menu.
- If needed, swap the Source & Dest, or lock/unlock them [see below].
- Choose my options: sync sub-folders, delete dest files, no filter.
- Run Compare, see the results, close the modal dialog.
- Examine the checked list of files to be copied/deleted in the folder panes, uncheck the ones I want to keep as is.
- Hit the Synchronize button to complete the action.
Step 3 is my attempt to try various ways of making this thing work. In reading previous posts here, I gathered that the locked/unlocked state is somehow relevant, so I've tried it both with the folders locked and unlocked. Indeed, if the "locks" are on, then the instant I alter any of the file check-boxes, the "Synchronize" button deactivates, killing the whole interaction. So I turn the locks off.
I've also tried every combination of putting the Source folder in the left or right pane, and/or swapping the Source and Dest in the synchronize pane. No matter how I do it, the dual panes, and the Source/Dest fields in the Sync pane, seem to swap at random, simply when selecting one of them.
And in the end, no matter what I do, when I hit the Synchronize button (assuming it's still active), it simply does not copy or delete the files I've kept selected. Running Compare again shows the same diffs.
Sorry if this question has been answered before, I did attempt to look in the forums, so thanks for any help.
