What if you had two tabs open to the same folder and each tab had a different colour?

But that is something that can already happen. The tree uses the selected tab, it seems.

Oh right, you're talking about the "path to selected folder" thing?

Sorry, I thought you meant you wanted the folder itself to display in the tab colour.
