Tabs and Toolbars

Can you point me in the right direction with this problem, please.

I am trying to create a set of tabs that will allow me to attach a different toolbar set to each tab I create.

AT the moment I have TabA and TabB - for argument's sake.

I have both tabs set up with same background image and both tabs viewing thumbnails. Of course, each tab has its own toolbar group attached.

TabA works beautifully. But TabB does not display the background image I have chosen, not does it display the correct toolbar group.

When I right mouse-click the padlock to check where the folder format is coming from, Opus tell me that in the case of both TabA and TabB it is coming from the appropriate folder tab ONLY.

Before I embarked on this project I had a toolbar set attached to my Images folder format, which is the toolbar set that currently displays on TabB. But I removed the toolbar set from my Images folder format so that this folder format has no toolbars attached.

I am not sure where to go from here.

How have you saved the formats for those tabs? What are you loading to re-create the tabs with those formats?

e.g. Are we talking about a saved layout, lister style, folder tab group, etc.?

Is the format lock turned on? If not then the tabs may change formats when they change folders.

Do you mean when you hover the mouse over the padlock? That will make a tooltip appear which tells you where the current format comes from.

Right-clicking the padlock will show a menu with various useful options, but nothing in there tells you where the format comes from. If you're basing the origins of the current format from that menu, it may be misleading as it doesn't indicate that.

I am sorry I meant to say that I hover over the padlock to discover where the format comes from. It does tell me the tabs come from the tabgroup

I have tried turning the padlock on and off - but no difference.

We are talking about a folder tab group.

I am not certain how to save the folder format for a tab, and, anyway, the format for TabB is incorrect - it has the wrong toolbar, so I would not want to save it.

To create the tabs I am using the Opus preferences. I have literally made scores of tabs this way. I have around a dozen tab groups I use without problems.

The working tab - TABA - looks at a directory within my Imaging folder. The non working tab - TABB - Looks at a different directory in the same folder. The set-ups of the tabs are identical - apart from the directory they apply too, obviously. Yet TABB will not load the toolbar I have told it to, nor use the background Image I have specified.

Out of Interest, I made another tab in the group which was an identical copy of the working TABA. Whilst this tab does show the correct image background, it still displays the wrong toolbar.

I am somewhat confused.

If you're editing via Preferences, click the Edit Format button to change the format for the selected tabs from the group.

This is how I create tabs all the time and how I created the troublesome tabs. I edit the format and set the toolbars etc.

One works fine, two do not.

This is page from the preferences where TABA toolbars are set. The page is identical for both tabs

This is the page from Preferences from my Toolbar sets:

I really do not know where to go next. It seems the two wonky tabs are picking up the background image and the toolbar from somewhere else. But where?

I have found a workaround for my problem. I have discovered that if I make a path format for the directory mentioned in the TABB which does not work. With this done TBAB works as it should..

I do not need to make a format for the directory for TABA - the working Tab.

I really do not understand this at all.
