Testing DO as a new File handler BUT

I am fed up with most of the Explorer replacements, as none of them will preview my Camera HD MOV files! ( Most digital camera companies have now moved away from avi etc and standardised on the mov format).

The ONLY reason I will consider moving to Directory Opus is if I can preview my (average) 300 or so images and MOV files in one go, from the shared folder. VLC player show them flawlessly. Please do not ask me to install Win Mediocre Playee as I will return to XYPlorer which does sort of play the mov files. I checked the FAQ here, but there is no definite advice or laid out fix for this, more like a few opinions and guesses.

Am I out of date or is this issue not important to anyone else?

I need this facility at least twice every week, and for such a huge installation as DOPUS; that boasts;-

"Directory Opus goes beyond the simple file manager metaphor, and offers you a complete replacement for Windows Explorer and many other utility programs for handling FTP, ZIP,
viewing files and images
, running slideshows and more"

Then, I expect a simple and relatively quick fix recommendation for something as commonplace and universally used as the mov files now are.

This is a long and rambling question that I, for one, find hard to follow. As you have yet to receive a reply, rare for this place, I may not be alone in being baffled.

So, a simple question to home in on the issue: have you tried Directory Opus for your proposed task?

If so, what happened?

If not, you might like to try it and come back with questions based on your experience.

mov files view fine here. But my religion does not prevent me from having Media Player on my PC. (Like Internet Explorer, I don't have to use it, but if it comes with bits that allow other stuff to work, such as media codecs, then I will accept this affront to my dignity.)

Try installing a third party quicktime codec and see if the preview pane works for your files then.

Google "quicktime alternative" ...
