The new HTML Help manual

Something that hasn't been mentioned much is the new help file in Opus 9.

Previously, in Opus 8, the online Help you got when you pushed F1 was a cut-down version of the full manual. Many of us never used the online help as a result, instead refering to the full manual in PDF format all the time. (The full manual was also available online as a web page but I think most of us used the PDF.) PDF files are great for printing but not so wonderful for viewing on a screen.

The good news is that in Opus 9 the online help uses the new HTMLHelp format and, even better, it's the FULL manual. There's still a PDF version if you want to print the manual out but now when you press F1 in Opus you get the real deal in a convenient interface, without any missing information and without the silly page breaks and general nastiness of PDF and Adobe Reader. It also appears almost instantly!

It's less painful to RTFM now. Good work, Greg!

Don't forget to read the Opus 9 Release Notes .pdf file. Some topics (breadcrumbs for instance) are covered more in-depth in that document that they are in the Help or Manual.

Very good point, Ken.

If anyone notices anything else that's in the Release Notes but missing from the manual please mention it here (and I'll pass it on) or tell GPSoft directly. Greg is keen to fix all such omissions.
