I have a 500 meg thumbnail cache how do I get that back into Dopus 9 ?
-
The tabs bar does not have my tabs that I designed ?
-
The glow effect has been turned off for all my toolbars, I like them always on not just when I hover ?
-
I STILL cannot get gradient buttons to work !!!!
-
All my Folder Formats are gone.
I'm not sure if the cache format has changed. (The names used by the cache files have changed slightly but I don't know if you can rename an old cache file so that it's picked up by Opus 9. Something only Jon can say for sure I think.)
Folder Tabs or Style Tabs? Is this something that didn't import correctly from your Opus 8 config?
Type "glow" into the Preferences filter to find the option that controls this.
Even using the "custom button highlight colors" option (see screenshot below)?
If you've got your Opus 8 config backup (one should have been made by the 8 to 9 upgrade wizard), send it to GPSoft so they can look at why the formats weren't imported.
Just saw your screenshot.
I'm not sure that the gradient is meant to be applied to "active" buttons. It may be on purpose that it only applies when you hover (the "hot" colours).
For #2 I see now that you meant the Styles. Same thing applies there as for #5, sending your config to GPSoft will help them work out why those particular settings didn't get imported.
The folder formats from v8 are gone.
The glow effect in preferences doesn't seem to work, they only glow when I hover over an icon.
I found that dialog and set the color of orange and gray but it only shows the orange, as you can see from my screenshot it does show up when I hover.
Lister style tabs are the default one NOT my old ones from v8.

Best way to get the import problem fixed is to send your Opus 8 config to GPSoft so they can look at it.
That's what the glow option does. If you want your icons to be full brightness all the time, chose None instead of Glow.
I found the problem. When Dopus 9 installs over v8 it makes a backup but it didn't get made properly. In fact all the backups I made with Dopus 8 under vista won't import correctly.
So I un-installed v9 and re-installed it and then imported a backup that I made with v8 under XP. It fixed almost all the problems, the glow is always on, tab styles are my customs ones and folder formats and favorites are all back agian.
Still can't get gradient buttons though it only uses the first color and my thumbnails are not square despite the box being checked.
Opus 8 was never officially supported on Vista so there might be some problems like that.
Upgrading 8 to 9 in-place on Vista should work in general but if anyone else reading has problems then try doing what knightcrawler did and export your Opus 8 settings from XP, of possible.
I copied all the thumbnail cache from the old folder and it works. That will save time since it's 342 MB of cache.
However I can't seem to get square thumbnails to work.
All the Square option does is tie together the width and height options to the left of the checkbox. Are you expecting it to do something more?
All my thumbnails were square in v8 and now they are all different sizes which is kinda annoying to look at a whole folder of different sized thumbnails.
Oh, I see. That's a feature. I found the change a bit weird at first but it grew on me and I much prefer the thumbs how they are now. I guess it might not be to everyone's taste though.
Before, the thumbnail frames were all the same size, but there was empty (and useless) white space inside the frame. Now the (useless) white space is outside the image frame. The images themselves are exactly the same size as they were before. If you still want big squares that are the same size, check out the new Tiles View Mode. Make sure it is solid and has a border.
