have set folder format with a thumbnail column set to 48px.
this is what it looks like when set as the first column
and this what it looks like when set as the second column
and as the fourth column (and any other column except second column)
further investigation shows there is some sort of padding being applied to the left of the thumbnail when it is the second column.

What is in that extra space when it’s a folder not a file?
Are you sure it’s because it’s the second column rather than the column next to Name?
Have you got icons turned off as well?
If I’m right, the reason for the extra space will become immediately clear when you look at a folder.
hmmm, thanks. The thumbnail column is used for expanders when next to the name column otherwise name column is used for expanders, is that right?
Okay, an oversight on your part then.
I will mark this as a feature request though.
Please make file thumbnails use full width when folder thumbnails are being used to show the expander button.
or
option to not use thumbnail column for expander buttons in prefs/thumbnails
(or both)

It's not an oversight. It's completely intentional.
If you turn off icons and put the thumbnail column next to the name column, Opus merges the two columns together and lets you have thumbnails instead of icons, essentially.
We have no plans to change this, and changing it would be detrimental. Make it wider if you want it to be wider. (Or don't turn off icons.)
Thankyou.
Are the feature requests still valid ?
Are they on the list ?
Shall I put them in a seperate post ?

Separate post isn't needed, but I don't think the request makes sense. Where would you want the folder expanders to go instead here?
An option to keep them in the name column please.
(allows me to reduce thumbnail size which will increase number of items in a lister by reducing line height)
