DO 9.1.0.2 – Vista Home Premium
‘Preserve the timestamps of copied files’ is checked in DO settings.
When I copy a directory containing files from D: to DVD RAM Drive F: using Vista built in burning the date & time of the directory is preserved which is what I want.
If I use the DO synchronize method then the date of the directory is changed to the present date & time.
Is there a way of synchronizing & preserving the directory date?
I've sent a report to GPSoftware requesting that the sync tool sets the timestamps on directories.
An alternative that will set the times is using the Copy UPDATEALL command instead of the Synchronize tool. This only makes sense if you are doing a one-way sync and if you want files to be copied from source to destination if the source timestamp is newer or the file only exists in the source.
If that's the kind of sync you are doing then you can find the Copy UPDATEALL command under File -> File Commands -> Update All on the default menus. You might want to move it to a toolbar button or hotkey if you use it a lot.
It works like the normal copy command, so you should select whatever you want to sync in the source and then click the button to copy it to the destination.
Thanks nudel
Will use ‘updateall’ until synchronize tool updated in future release

I reported this problem with synchronization in version 9.1.0.2 and have just updated to version 9.1.0.4 from 9.1.0.3 but it still remains.
Seems this is not a priority to fix even though files are hardly synchronized if the dates are changed in the updated folder?
If you want to chase a bug report, talk to GPSoftware directly rather than this user-to-user forum.
Chances are they just didn't get to it yet but will in time. Sometimes you get a result in a week and sometimes in a month or two, but you usually get a result. Better than any other software house I can think of.

Did you report it to GPSoftware directly or only mention it here?
Hi Bob
In a way both.
Leo (Admin) posted the following on 14, Feb see above message.

So I assumed it had been reported directly to DO headquarters
I am not particularly bothered about the problem; I had just hoped it would have been fixed in the last update.
As Leo says it will be fixed eventually and this forum seems well ahead of other forums I have dealt with so I live in hope.
