Toggle Dual and keep tabs

Sometimes I need more space in the lister and sliding the lister separator is not an elagant solution to this. And when I close and reopen the left or right file display everything is gone (selection tabs etc.).
I would like to quickly close left or right file display and then turn the dual lister back on right to how it was.

Is this possible or another aproach maybe?

This works for me... Switching between dual and single styles

That should be possible if you use styles. In the preferences, you can edit that style to not close any existing tabs, as well as switching into single mode.

Set DUAL=toggle,remember

That may do what you want.
