Toolbar Button help

To start , I am not in the IT field.
I am trying to add a Drop-down button to the toolbar and populate the list with the "saved lister layouts". I have saved layouts and I have added the button to the toolbar. When I close the customize action the saved layouts are LISTED on the toolbar and the button I have added is not visible. What did I miss or mess up?
TIA
Dave

This is a learning experience!

In customize mode, try creating a new menu button, then while still in customize mode, click on that new menu button and move your mouse pointer over the little empty area that appears next to the menu button. Then right click, and choose add new button. Give that new button the command of

Prefs LAYOUTLIST

Exit customize mode, and you should be ready to go.

The most I have been able to do is double what I already have on the toolbar. A screen shot of what I have is attached.

You need to create a sub-menu.

[ul][li]Enter Customize mode[/li]
[li]Right-click an empty part of the toolbar[/li]
[li]Select New -> New Menu[/li]
[li]Click on the item that was added and a small, empty sub-menu will appear.[/li]
[li]Drag your existing Prefs LAYOUTLIST button into that sub-menu (or create a new button in the sub-menu)[/li][/ul]

 I figured it out, there are two ways to acheive my goal:

  1. The easy way, Go to: customize/ commands/ layout edit, drag that to the toolbar.
  2. The hard way (the way I was trying). I did reach my goal using this method also.
This program has SOOO many options it is hard to get a grasp on them. As time is passing I am able to make it do What I want.
Thanks for the assistance. I will be back I am sure with other questions
    Thanks again

There ARE alot of options... I re-installed my OS back around Opus version 6 timeframe about 3 or 4 times just to try the trial version out several times because it took so long to get my head around it.

That said, it only turns out this way because the further down the rabbit hole we get, and discover what may be possible, we sidetrack trying to find out what else it can do. It may go easier if you think about what sort of things you'd like from it... write it down in a small list, and focus just on those things by trying yourself and resisting the temptation to investigate all sorts of nifty nooks crannies you discover along the way to what you originally wanted...

And if you need help here on the forums, just shout - remembering to try and explain as clearly as you can what you're trying to do, how you tried it, and what about the result wasn't what you wanted or expected...
