Toolbar width, hotkey access and alignment?

Recently purchased DO and have just started customizing it so i might have a few questions in the near future . I have created two toolbars which are docked vertically on the inside left edge of the lister that i have a few questions about:

  1. Is it possible to specify a max width for a vertical toolbar? Reason i ask is because one of the toolbars has a "Recent" button which displays all the folders i have recently accessed. The problem is that the toolbar keeps changing widths depending on the largest recent path and I would like to set a max width for this toolbar to avoid this?

  2. Regarding the same toolbar above is it possible to specify that each button in the "Recent" menu have a folder icon and that the text be left justified? I set the icon for the recent button to a folder but that doesn't propagate like it does with other buttons. Another reason i would like to use images for each button is bc it seems to be the only way to justify the button label to the left, unless i missed something?

  3. Lastly my question relates to the second toolbar i made also docked vertically on the left edge of the lister which has a list of all my commonly used folders. What i would like to do is setup a hotkey to essentially give keyboard focus to the first directory in the list and then be able to use the keyboard/arrow keys to navigate the toolbar and select a folder similar to how navigation works for menus?

thx

  1. I don't think so. The width of a vertical toolbar (height of a horizontal one) adjusts itself automatically as needed. The way around your problem with the Recent command, is to create a new menu button and move the Recent command inside of that menu button.

  2. Off the top of my head I'm not aware of any way to do this at the moment.

  3. It sounds to me like you may have a menu button set which holds your saved folders and you'd like a hotkey to activate it. That's not a bad idea, I'd like to see that myself.

  1. Change the command to Recent SHOWICONS and you'll get icons.

  2. If you put the list into a sub-menu you can then activate the menu using & in the menu's label. Put the & before a letter and then push Alt and the letter to open the sub-menu and give it the keyboard focus.

  1. It seems that there is an internal max menu width although would be great to be able to set this yourself. Will submit a feature request

  2. TKU, exactly what i was looking for!

  3. Thx, altough i was already aware of this and it isnt exactly what i was trying to do.

I did however find out that even if i do as you suggested, while you can traverse the menu using the arrow keys, the menu selection doesnt jump to the first item starting with the letter you entered like most menus do but more importantly that you cannot actually launch a menu item by hitting enter???

Pushing enter works for me.

Try it with the standard Favorites menu: Alt-a, down-arrow a few times, then push enter over a folder. For me that loads the folder.

Hello,

I agree, a stickler for setting the width of the tree would be very nice.

Best regards.

Sorry for my English calamitous ^^

The folder tree? You can set the width of that already. This thread was talking about setting the width of toolbars (which auto-size to their content right now).

How you configure the width of the tree of folders, each time she returns to a size too big as the one I chose?

Use Settings -> Set as Default Lister to save the width.

Can a little more detail, sorry

Okay, I found thank you
