Transfer Speed while Running on Flash Drive

I'm trying to get any idea of how much the USB Drive data transfer speed is going to impact my experience operating Directory Opus. So forgive me if this question is a bit technical: When running Directory Opus from flash drive and transferring files on a separate drive (transfering files on my computer's internal drive), is the file transfer speed dependent in any way upon the USB drive read/write speed?

If the copy isn't going to/from the USB drive, then the USB drive shouldn't affect the copy speed.

You also have the option of copying the USB stick to a temp directory on an SSD and running it from there, with the USB stick still plugged in. That will eliminate other delays which can happen with slow USB sticks; but those affect things like opening the program or a new dialog or icon that hasn't been displayed recently, not file copying.

Thanks!
