I'm trying to set my tab group to one thing but is never saves. I want it to save so when i open it back up it keeps it how i set it and download open the same random tabs every single time. Its aggravating trying to get it to save when it doesn't do what its supposed to. It would also help if the program was easier to use
Tab groups is a functionality that helps save a bunch of tabs (in a named group) so that you can recall them when you want (right clicking the +
symbol that can be used to add a new tab).
EDIT: Basically it allows adding a specific set of tabs in an existing lister (or replace existing tabs depending on the way the tab group is configured).
From what you're saying, it seems that what you're trying to achieve is that your lister remembers what tabs were opened the last time you closed it or remembers a specific tab settings (but I may be wrong).
If you want to remember the way it was on closing it, there is an option for that. I do not have Opus12 anymore but it should be in the Preferences/Launching Opus.
If you want to define a precise configuration (single or dual pane) with specific folders (tabs) opened, what you're looking for are Layouts. They can be saved and can be recalled anytime you want as when they were saved.
EDIT2: As a side note, ending your very first post on this forum by complaining about the ease of use (or lack of more specifically) of this software might not really be the best introduction. Opus is a very powerful program, it can take a bit of time to get to know everything that it can do, yet still very usable from the start for every basic task.
You also might have a look into > Preferences > Opus Start > Autostart, to see, what kind of lister is set to start with. You can save your desired tabs as default lister and use 'open default lister'.
I thought I fixed it but no. For some reason when I restart Opus, it loads the custom Layout I made just fine but when I x out and open it back up it goes back to the previous lister with all the random tabs. Made it so it opens the custom Layout when Opus starts. I don't know if I'm doing anything wrong but I removed the Tab Groups that kept loading but it still does it. It seems to be opening a new Lister with my old groups that I don't have saved
EDITED :
Did you make your lister as the default lister ?
Did you activate the settings to open the default lister (in Preferences/Opus Start) or did you there set it to open the listers that were opened on last Opus close ?
Yes, under Startup I made it so it opens a saved Lister layout. That's what I meant when I said Made it so it opens the custom Layout when Opus starts.
If you're opening a layout, it's that layout which you need to save with the tabs you want it to contain.
(But using the Default Lister as your initial window is what we generally recommend instead, and the normal way to do things. Then you can save that using Settings > Set Lister Defaults, or optionally have it auto-save each time you close a window.)
I just changed it to open the default lister yet its still opening some different lister with pre-set tabs.
Once your layout with correct tabs has been made and is displayed, have you saved it as the default lister (see Leo's post : Settings > Set Lister Defaults) ?
Ok, I did everything else except set as default lister. I thought that under "Listers opened automatically when Opus starts" when I selected Open a saved lister layout it would set that as the default but it did not. That's what got me all messed up.
