Is there a way to turn off file previews for certain file types in the preview pane? I have a 3d program file that slows down Opus while it tries to build a preview, but then it just shows text of the file guts. It would be great to see the preview of the file, but if I could just turn off the preview for that file type that would be great.
The application is Keyshot 3d rendering engine, the file types are .ksp and .bip.
There is no plugin or file handler for this filetype. It just shows up as text. I'd rather just have DO not analyze it. Or if there is a way to get a preview to show, that would be great. In the windows file viewer, under certain circumstances the icon will show a preview of the 3d object. But only in small icons, they don't show when you swtich to larger thumbnail views.
Use ShellExView 64-bit and find the Icon Handler or Thumbnail Provider (the most likely types, at least) for that file type or by the company that makes the software for it. Right-click them and disable them.
ok I'll have to see why it isn't. The windows file viewer shows the larger thumbnails as shown in this screen grab
but DO doesn't when open in thumbnail view as shown in this screen grab. It shows a clipping of the code of the file.
I might reset DO to defaults and see if that fixes it. I have been messing around quite a bit with different Lister views and messing with settings. I very well may have bungled something up.
Have I misunderstood? I thought those larger thumbnails were what you were trying to turn off as they were taking too long to generate?
If you're getting text thumbs instead, configure the Text File Thumbnails viewer plugin to exclude the file extension of the first line of the file data. (Preferences / Viewer / Plugins)
Ah, that is the Solution I am looking for! I was not clear in what I was asking. DO was taking a long time generating the text preview, so I wanted to turn that function off, which your suggestion will.
Secondly if DO can display the larger thumbnails that windows does that would be great. But I will turn off the text plug in handler for that file and see what that does
That worked!!! Now that the text plugin isn't trying to process it, DO is using the other thumbnails that the windows file viewer is using. Thanks for the help!!!! This is perfect. I love DO, its helping me transition from a MacOS after 20 years of use, and I keep finding little things that it can do that helps speed things up. Just found out as well that I can delete SageThumbs, as DO will convert psd files as well!!!
