Additionally, all files in the Listers will be displayed with “checkboxes” that indicate the synchronize operation to be performed.
An arrow indicates the file will be copied, a cross indicates it will be deleted, and an empty box indicates no action. The checkboxes can be clicked to change the action to be performed if desired.
I do get the display described, but on top of this display is a small window titled Comparison Results - Directory Opus. This window contains some information about the comparison results and Synchronize and Close buttons, but its presence seems to make the lister window inactive. Clicking on the checkboxes just produces a beep and a flashing of the title of the Comparison Results window.
If the Comparison Results window is closed, clicking the checkboxes behaves as described, but there is then no way, that I can see, to cause the modifications to be carried out since the Comparison Results window and its Synchronize button is gone.
I have the same problem as the original poster, however if I alter any of the check boxes or even just scroll through the comparison results windows, when I expand the shrunken panel the synchronize button is grayed out. My only option is to compare again and then the process repeats.
How can I get this customizing of the synchronize results function to work? This is a make or break deal for me.
If it makes any difference, I am using trial version 9.5.3.0.3728.x64 on Windows 7.
You have to do a comparison before you can do a synchronize, else Opus won't know what to copy (and you won't have any opportunity to see what is going to be copied).
If you do a comparison and then change any options, you may need to re-do the comparison for those options to be applied.
After doing a comparison, the results window appears. In that you can choose either to do the sync immediately or to close the results window and inspect what will happen back in the main window.
If you close the results window, the Synchronize button back in the main window should be enabled and allow you to perform the sync when you're happy with how things look. Or, if you want to change some of the sync options you can do so and then click Compare again.
On the other hand, if you want a simple one-click button which updates one folder from another without any further interaction, the sync tool isn't what you want; the Copy Update All or Copy Update Existing command are more suitable (or just a simple Copy set to automatically replace on certain criteria, depending on exactly what you want to do).
