Upgrade options

When I request the customised upgrade quote, should it include the FTP option (if I had it before) and should I be offered the USB option, or do these have to be ordered separately? Confusingly, if I request a single or dual licence, I am not offered the FTP option; if I request a five-install licence, three FTP options are added to the order.

How much are the FTP and USB options, and are upgrade discounts offered on them?

I can shed some light on one of your questions. The cost of a USB license is in addition to the other licenses. I believe you can purchase as many USB licenses as you have desktop licenses

I owned a dual license of Opus 8 with FTP, and when I upgraded I got the same in Opus 9.

But you should really send GPSoftware an email regarding your questions. The email link is on the official website.

I believe you get these options later on in the purchase process; so, just request the quote, follow through with order, on next page you can add these options.

Thanks for the replies. I've just discovered that new customers can find the price of USB and FTP licences by clicking the 'Buy now' button, even if they are not listed under product licence types or in the customised upgrade sytem. (I thought it was strange not to be able to know the price of the options until you'd bought the product!)

As usual, the pricing is very fair, and I look forward to trying it out. To save me bothering GPSoftware at this busy time, does anyone know if a discount is offered on USB or Advanced FTP licences for those upgrading (or having the FTP option for DOpus 8), or just on the install licences? If not, I can just buy the options separately after following through the upgrade quote.

As any install licence now also covers one laptop, am I right in thinking that a single-install licence is sufficient to cover two systems, even if they are both laptops? I'm certainly not complaining, but this does seem unnecessarily generous!

That's DOpus 8 in brackets, of course, not a special-edition DOpus Cool...

If you've already go the Advanced FTP module for Opus 8 then you don't have to buy it again for Opus 9; it should be included in your licence for free.
(I think, anyway!)

It's worth noting that if you plan to add optional extras then you're better off doing it as part of the main upgrade, rather than as a completely separate transaction. That's because buying extras separately includes a transaction charge.

From a quick skim of the licence it sounds like it's fine to use a "single-install" licence on two laptops, provided one of the laptops is your main computer and the other is a personal laptop, and that you don't install the program on anything else. That's just my understanding of it after a quick read, though. I'm not a lawyer or a representative of GPSoft.

If the same number of Advanced FTP licences as I currently own are included in the quote, that would explain why I am assigned 3 if I choose a five-install licence. If that turns out not to be right, I suppose I will just have to contact GPSoftware after ordering to ask for the FTP licenses.
