Happy new year everyone!
Is there a way to reference the same icon displayed in the Lister for a specific folder, in order to use it in a toolbar button/menu?
Assuming it could be customized, a drive, etc.
If you add the button by dropping the folder onto the toolbar in Customize mode it'll set up the icon for you automatically.
Yes, that's very strange.
Whatever is going on here is beyond my understanding.
I do know that details mode folder icons as assigned by Properties -> Customize
do transfer to toolbars. These transfers come from %SystemRoot%\System32\shell32.dll
on my system.
The same properties result happens in thumbnails view even with custom thumbnails.
However, if I drag a default folder icon either in details or thumbnail view, the toolbar icon comes from C:\WINDOWS\system32\imageres.dll
.
Dragging custom thumbnails to the toolbar results in the default folder icon on the toolbar, but it also comes from C:\WINDOWS\system32\imageres.dll
.
In hope that's correct.
And yes, it is beyond my understanding.
But, the fact remains that changing the folder icon in details mode at least using Properties -> Customize
and then dragging the folder to a toolbar sets up the button icon just as Jon said.
