I have just upgraded to Vista and note that Version 8 is not supported under Vista. I have installed it ok and it seems to be working but apparently there are known issues. Is there any information anywhere as to what the known issues are?
I would upgrade to the lastest version but when I got a quote, I was a bit shocked as the cost and I just can't justify it for a product that I don't use daily and only use for specific housekeeping tasks on a monthly (or so) basis.
I do feel that the upgrade cost is way too high as most smaller software companies offer upgrades to existing users for a nominal fee, rather than in GP software's case, offer upgrades to existing users for a nominal discount. An example of a more decent upgrade policy is Thumbsplus - all updates within version number are free and a full upgrade to the new version is about 65% discount from the full price. They obviously value their existing customers a bit better!
Anyway, if anyone does know what the existing issues with version 8 and Vista, I would really appreciate it....

If you use Opus only once in a month, it´s maybe quite lot, but then again, most people use Opus every day, & it is a central point of working. Since the version 9 we had 18 free updates so far. Although i think, all non free programs charge for major updates, so it isn´t unusual at all. Given that major Updates are available only every few years, cost isn´t that high anyway. You can´t expect any program to be fully functional on a newer OS.
Thanks for the reply. Perhaps I should take a full test drive of version 9 and see how I feel about it. There were several features in version 8 that I do use and I felt needed improving and maybe these have been sorted in the latest version. If they have, then I will have to either stump up the money or look for another product or collection of products elsewhere.
In meantime, I shall have to carry on using version 8 in vista. If anyone know what problems I am likely to experience then that would be great!
Also note that my "What's new in Opus 9" guide only covers 9.0.0.0.
The guide is the best place to start but it's missing loads of features which were added in free updates later on. The announcements forum here has a list of the updates if you want to see what else was added. 9.1.0.0 was the free update which added the most things but some of the other updates were pretty significant as well.
Oh my goodness, I can't believe I missed out on the 40% offer by just a month! Typical...
For some reason, I didn't get any emails about the upgraded product and because I was quite happily using it on Win XP until a few weeks ago, I didn't think to look into a new version. If I ask nicely, could I please have the 40% discount as a special favour as I would definitely upgrade it then? Please!
