Hi all,
Quick question.
Is there a spot in DOpus to change how file types are tagged?
Example:
In Windows exploer, mkv files show up for me as Matroska Video files, different from AVI files which show up as Video Clip. mp4 files are mp4 Video, etc.
Yet, in DOpus it just shows them all as "Video Clip".
The name itself isn't critical - it's the fact that it's grouping them all into one type.
(Ooops, I lied, mp4 are still showing up as MP4 Video)
So is this a DOpus assumption? Or is it picking this up somewhere in my system?
For now, it's the not sorting out avi from mkv files, that's presenting a challenge, as I reprocess avi's to mkv, and then remove the avi...
The file type names come from the registry. You can sometimes edit them via Settings > File Types, but sometimes it takes editing the registry, if things have been overridden. (Filetypes in Windows are a mess after years of different override layers being added to them by Microsoft.)
If you just want them to be separate per extension, use the Extension column rather than the Type column.
EXTENSION column, awesome!! Thank you.
Had not yet tripped over that yet.
Will do.
I wondered about the system, if it was picking it up from some old windows "category" of file, rather than from the system defined file type name.
Much appreciated Leo.
The file Types editor also still shows it as MKV Video, but DOpus is tagging it as a member of the "Movie" group, so I bet that's where/why. But extension column is a better solve.
