Sorry, two more problems have emerged recently too (in addition to an earlier message):
When I try to watch a video in the Dopus lister it simply gives me the binary code for the video file. This happens for ALL video files. NFOs and other file types preview with no problem.
I have never been able to add the DOpus search facility to the standard windows search (e.g. have it as an option in 'Start>Search'. I would like to do this; and if possible, remove the option of using the standard MS XP search because it is so rubbish.
Is the Movie plugin enabled? Do the same video files play in Windows Media Player?
I don't think there's an option to make Start->Search run Opus. Not sure if it's possible to change what the item does or not but it doesn't hurt to send GPSoft a feature request. Seems like a reasonable thing to ask for.
Yes it's enabled. The same videos open with no problems in Windows Media Player.
When I try and use the preview lister it first opens another window too briefly for me to see what it is. I have just tried to preview videos several times and DOpus has crashed.
As for search - I distinctly remember being able to search with DOpus when I had it installed before... I think it works that way on a friends PC too.
Incidentally I cannot use the search facility accessed from the File > Search. It says it cannot find the directory and opens up Windows Explorer... a similar problem to that noted in the previous post.
Are you using Zone Alarm or any other invasive security software that might stop Opus from hooking into other programs? Sounds like there's a general problem there.
Another thing: You haven't added any video file extensions to the ActiveX Document plugin, have you? That might cause problems, but they're not handled by it by default.
I'm using Outpost Firewall, which is actually pretty unstable at the moment (version 4). I have also recently installed XVid codecs... I think I will totally uninstal, clean up the registry and try installing from scratch to see if I can sort out all of these problems....
NAH - reinstalling didn't work. I guess I'll just have to put up with it.....
