Am vainly trying to sort the modified date. Just updated to 13.3.1 (beta), but it looks like the problem is still there(?)

Nothing special. For privacy reasons I blurred the folder names of course.

Which column are you sorting by there?
If it’s “Modified (Simple)”, you might need to reset the definition of it in Preferences, if it was edited previously.
Ehm... I am sure I sound like a newbie, but, frankly, I don't remember ever having checked this setting.

BTW - same goes for size: clicking on column header, nothing changes.
Exiting, relaunching, makes no difference.
The screenshot is too cropped to see what's going on again. That looks like files and folders mixed together in some way.
Just noticed the sort order was also set to alphabetically, so first alphabetically then on size (or modified) I guess.
Folder Format > Tab Sorting > Uncheck "Keep folders sorted alphabetically" solved the issue.
Probably or accidentally(?) I seem to have checked this option recently: do not remember having seen this behavior before.
Anyway, matter solved.
