Well i've found /dopusdata is a virtual folder.. Linking to All Users document and settings.. I had understood it would go in the Program directory .. is it normal ?
And i've found the Smart Favorites file but it seems in binary .. no way to know the points of each directory ?
Is it because of the unique trademark concept of "Smart Favorites" that you have decided to keep it secret or will it be in xml plain text in a next version ?
Because i would like to use them but i have very strange behaviour and i would need to tune the value of each command. It is quite difficult to do it when i don't know how much points each directory has and to see which command i need to tune
Or maybe if you want to keep the file secret, maybe you could just allow us to see how many points each directory has in the Smart Favorites menu
I think it's just something that didn't seem worth converting to XML since it was already in a file. In Opus 8, most of the other config was in the registry and had to be moved into files for Opus 9. (Partly because the registry sucks and partly to make USB mode possible.)
It made sense to use XML for the new files, and in hindsight would've made sense to use XML for SmartFavorites as well, but nobody thought of it back when the SmartFavorites config format was defined. (Must've been 1999 or so?)
If you are writing a program which needs to know about SmartFavorites then there's a simple API for getting the list of them. This is what the DOpus Favorites shell extension uses to get the data. I'm not sure where to find the info but if it'd be useful shout and I'm sure Jon will dig it out for you. If I remember correclty it's a set of DLL functions suitable for use from C/C++/.Net/Pascal/etc.
Oh no i'm not writing a program which would use them. I just want to fine tune and see how fast the points i can give a directory for one action grows up and which action i need to tune ..
Sometimes i make many Show in the same directory and i think that's the reason why this directory is first in Smart Favorites, but i'd like to know the number of points to fine tune it instead of trying than cleaning Smart Favorites, then trying again
If it's the internal Show command then it should result in 8 points by default. I guess it would be easier to tweak the rules if you could see the results, though.
Yes Leo, i've started changing amount of points for some actions like "Show"
It's just, as you said, that it would be easier to fine tune the results if i knew how fast a directory could grow or not.. Maybe i could make a feature request, if there is no serious reason to keep the smart favorites file in binary
