Where to click to create new file when listing is full?

In dopus (and Windows Explorer) I can position my cursor in an empty area of the listing and right click to bring up the context menu to create a new folder, shortcut, and various types of files. However, if the listing is filled and there's no blank space beneath the last file, only Windows Explorer has a small "empty" space to the left of filenames where can I click to bring up that context menu. Dopus does not have that space on the left so where can I click? Can I get that blank space displayed? I'd rather not have an unconventional approach like a separate button for this common operation.

Right-click the status bar, or use the menu attached to the New Folder button on the toolbars, or push Ctlr-O (if you want a new text file).

I always thought that allowing right clicks on the top doted line for parent folder might be a good enhancement but there is probably something in the way of that

The .. item? That should show a context menu for the parent folder, if anything. I think it would be confusing to show something for the current folder on that item.

The status bar is your best bet if you want the folder background menu and the file display is full of filenames (or in full-row mode with no gaps).

Also, on your keyboard, next to the right CTRL key, you may have a key that looks like a simplified menu. You probably never or rarely used it, but that is the context menu key. If no file is selected and you smack that key (gently), it should pop up a lister context menu.

And if you don't have one of those, Shift-F10 does the same thing.
