Where was that setting again?

Hi, the new search function in DO9 really rules, but sometimes i still have to search for things. A couple of questions: where can i set the size of the mouseover info tips, regarding the miniatures? & how can i make DO showing the whole file name in the info tip, when it is partially covered by the next field (when moving the cursor over the file)?

There´s one more thing, what is the meaning of multiple sorting? i can´t understand this, since only one field can be sorted at the time. This looks like a very interesting feature, though.

@admin: sorry for the identical postings, but i was waiting more than 120 seconds to send this posting, retrying it, because i thought there was a problem. I didn´t notice, that one posting actually did work.

I'm not sure what you mean by miniatures, but I think the infotip size is automatic.

You can do that in SETTINGS/FILE TYPES/DIRECTORY OPUS FILE TYPES/ALL FILES. Click edit for that and then on the infotips tab where you enter whatever you want displayed for an info tip. The attached screenshot shows my configuration which shows:

File name

opus comment (if there is one)

file type
date modified
file size

You mean the setting shown below? (If so, that isn't connected to infotips. It's the Tile label.)

Multi-column sorting lets you sort by more than one column. If the first sort column is identical for two files then their order is determined by the second sort column, and so on.

Hello, i mean the miniatures of (for example) jpegs, which appear when i move the cursor over one of them. I know that
it´s possible to adjust the size, but can´t find it anymore.

ah, thank you very much!

like this:

(completing the partially shown file name)

Ok, that´s what it means, thx!

Has Opus (or Explorer) ever done that in Details mode? I'm not sure if it was ever an option.

Editing your InfoTips so that they include the filename, like John suggests, seems like the best solution. That's what Explorer on Vista does, too.

(Turning on automatic column resizing also gets rid of the problem entirely but I assume you've got that turned off because you don't like it for other reasons, which is fair enough.)

No, it was a simple info tip, the grafic is maybe a bit irritating, it was only meant to show, how one can see the full name in the info tip.

i had it already, like this:

But in this moment Dopus doesn´t show it anymore. Maybe i changed a setting?! ~^
Because of the "{name}" i included in the info tip list, there is supposed to be the corresponding info tip. By the way, another small issue: when i saw it working a couple of days ago, i couldn´t get it to be aligned in one row; the name field remained a bit "off", but that was quite ok for me
(settings -> file types -> all files & folders -> edit -> info tip)

Yep, i find it more practical the other way round. Why, because of maybe only one long file name, should the automatic column "mess up" the informations in the other columns (because i would have to scroll)?! I rather prefer to have fixed settings for the column widths, & for having a look on the long filenames, the said infotip is very handy.

If the infotips don't appear at all then you may have turned them off. Type InfoTip (I guess "InfoTipp" in your German Opus) into the Preferences filter to find the relevant options.

If the infotips appear but don't contain the filename then you're probably hovering over files whose filetypes define their own infotips that override the All Files and Folders one that you've edited.

If you want to align things in InfoTips, use tab characters. I don't think you can type a tab into the InfoTip box (in the current version of Opus) but you can copy one to the clipboard and then paste them into it. (The infotip shown looks like it already contains tabs so you can copy and paste them to make more.)

naw, they do appear, i made some mistake.. ->

aaargh, yes. That was it! why the file, i was testing it with, had to be a .pdf? of course you´ll one hundert percent right! But now, on this occasion, i´ve changed the info tip for PDFs to show the name.

hmm, ok, i will try that. I suppose i can insert a tab in a text editor & copy it from there? Anyway, this is cosmetical stuff, i´m happy that it "works again".

Edit: yeah, the tab did it, everything´s aligned now! thx you all!

Did we ever get an answer on how to change the size of the thumbnail on the infoTip?

Thanks

It is directly linked to the image thumbnail size (Preferences => Lister Display Modes => Thumbnails Mode => Appearance). Increasing the default size (96 x 96) will make InfoTip thumbnails larger, too.

You could also put a Thumbnail Size trackbar on a toolbar to change this in real time without having to open the Preferences window.
