Hi all,
I recently messed up my configuration (I had a shared config for 3 computers through dropbox, and decided to split some parts so that I get a customized setup for each computer), and I noticed the label colours have stopped working, i.e. I can no longer apply colours to specific files/folders. I click on the function, no error appears, but nothing happens.
Any ideas?
Your question forced me to look deeper into the problem, thus solving it
I had a /dopusdata folder consisting of both local data AND symlinks to contents of a dropbox folder.
For some strange reason, the foldercolors.oxc symlink is not accepted on neither of my main installations. It displays the existing colors, but it can't create new ones. So i replaced the symlinks with the files to which the symlinks were pointing, and everything works fine now !!
(can you explain this? not that it's important)
It's better to create symlinks to directories instead of files if the files are going to be updated. Files tend to be deleted and replaced entirely, which won't work with symlinks.
ok thanks very much for the explanation, now everything is ok. The only problem is I don't want to symlink the entire folder because there are some entities in there that I need to be unique and some that should be shared..
Is there an official sync-between-computers feature still under discussion or was it discarded?
Automatic config synching would probably do the whole folder anyway since everything in the roaming profile should work across machines and anything which doesn't will be stored in the non-roaming area of the profile.
