Width of directory displays

(new user testing this thing which I can see has great features) I have 2 directory diplays side by side. I carefully set the width of the first column. Then I go and adjust the width of the 2nd colum by dragging in the RH side of the window. To my surprise my carefully set width of col 1 is adjusted TOO as I drag left. NOT good. Am I missing a setting please?

PS I have ony just found the editor "create topic" button (this is Firefox) and I needed to make this fullscreen before it appeared just on-screen at the bottom.

PPS I have just read: "Free evaluation codes cannot be linked." OK, so I have a trial license, so if you want me to purchase, that's not helpful. It'd be great if my questions / concerns could be answered?

@2dmartin The GP Software team is very small and not online 24/7. That said, the community does try to assist fellow and potential users.

In your scenario, this FAQ and video should prove very helpful:

That sounds wrong; only the column you drag should resize in most cases (unless you're using some of the more exotic resizing modes that make columns only use up the space left over from other columns).

But I'm not sure I've properly understood what you're doing. Would it be possible to show a screenshot with some marks showing what you're dragging, or a video? (You can drag or paste media into replies here.)

Thanks Leo. I have 2 scrfeen (window) shots for you. Win1 is after I have set the width of the LH column, and you can see space to the R of the RH column which I now want to remove. So I grab the RHS of the window and drag left. And ... both colums get resized and my width for the LH column gets messed up as you can see.
I have changed very few Opus settings from the defaults.

Are we talking about resizing the columns in the file displays (Name, Size, Type, Modified), or the Folder Tree and two file display panels?

Resizing a panel will distribute the space on either side of it between the things on each side.

I should not have used the word 'column' but rather (as you do) "file displays". Apologies.

I don't fully understand your last line, but I think you're saying "that's the way it is".

If so, not good. Resizing one file display affects the other and vice versa. So it's trial and error to get them both the desired width, playing with both widths until it works. Is there not some way of locking a file display width so that one does not affect the other?

Ah, that's really helpful, thank you, thank you.
Dual horizontally stacked file displays and folders answers my requirement well.
And it helps to answer what would have been my next question and I see is called "flat view".

I really appreciate the help here, many thanks!
