is there an option to show checkbox's next to files for selection?

(The option is in the Folder menu with the Opus 11 default toolbars.)

In your default "menu" toolbar, in the fifth menu from the right, there is a button to toggle the checkbox mode, running the command Set CHECKBOXMODE=Toggle.
