DOpus has a compatibility option for Window Blinds but I notice that the folder size is stuck at 32x when applying a Window Blinds theme.
The only way to have re-sizable folder icons is to use the Display Thumbnails for Folders option.
The folder icons included in the Window Blind themes are stuck at one size and would be really nice if they were adjustable like the regular Windows folder icons
Is there going to be a fix for this issue or is there a way around it?
AFAIK, Opus gets the icon size by asking Windows for the icon size metric. Not sure if Windowblinds changes that or not. (I didn't realise Windowblinds had an effect on icons at all.)
Opus uses 256x256 RGBA PNG format for icons, in all view modes, but the size are stuck at 48x48 maximum (except for images in thumbnails view).
It would be a great good idea to remove the nonsense 48x48 limit and to permit setting the exact size of icons in Preferences for List/Details Mode, and for Tiles (without Thumbnail) Mode too.
How does DOpus decide what icon size it uses in large icons mode? I have two computers and the one that I mainly use has DOpus installed and it's stuck to some very small icon size(32x32 or 48x48). (1600x1200 mode so they are pretty small)
On the other hand I tested DOpus on this other computer and there DOpus shows whatever "windowmetrics\shell icon size" regkey says. I can have 256x256 icons just fine. This doesn't work on my main computer.
I would just like to bump up large icons to 64x64 or something little bit bigger than I now have.
If you're seeing different icon sizes when the OS has the same icon size metric set, are the icons for the same file types?
Opus will show 256x256 verisons of actual .ico files but not currently of the icons inside of other files (at least unless the icon size metric is changed).
Also, same versions of Windows and Opus on both machines?
Old computer: Windows 7 32-bit with 9.1.1.6.3276.x86
I can change icon size.
New computer: (dual boot)
Windows 7 64-bit with 9.5.00.3565.x64
I can't change iconsize at all.
Windows XP 32-bit 9.1.3.0.3449.x86
I can change icon size.
I was curious and launched 9.1.3.0.3449.x86 from Win 7 and then it shows only 32x32 icons.
So it looks like that it's not about DOpus version but 64-bit Win 7.
are the icons for the same file types?
Maybe this is just a bad day but I don't understand the question.
With the old computer I can also see the extracted icon for OpenOffice installer while some other packages like 7-zip and Opera10 just show a generic exe icon when I use icon sizes > 48x48
It's possible that Windows 7 ignores the old icon size metric registry settings. (Maybe the assumption is that people will adjust the DPI setting instead, or that it's not that relevant since Explorer has an icon size slider now.)
Not sure though.
Whatever the answer is, Opus just asks the OS for the icon size and for the icons themselves. So it looks like the method for setting the icon size has changed in Vista or Windows 7 from what it was in XP. I don't know what the correct method is now, though.
I'm not sure, but DOpus probably doesn't use the correct icon size in Large Icons View in Vista (see screenshots below):
Windows Explorer uses 48x48 icons, even when I set the view mode to 'normal icons'. DOpus uses 32x32 icons, even in
Large Icons View. But when I browse to the desktop in DOpus, the 48x48 icons are used for Large Icons View. When I
change the "windowmetrics\shell icon size" regkey, DOpus still uses 32x32 icons for Large Icons View (I don't use Window Blinds):
