Wrap long file or path columns

Frequently I encounter long file names and/or file paths in a lister display that exceed the width of the display. One can drag the column widths and that works to a degree, but that always comes at the expense of what is displayed in the other columns. Is there something already in DO to address this problem? I have looked in help and here in the Resource Centre, and found nothing. But I may have missed it.

If nothing exists, would it be possible in a future upgrade or via plugin to create possibly a right click option that for a selected lister line, shows the fields in the row vertically transposed. In my mind I could see a window that pops up. In the new window is a table with two columns. The data in the fields in the first column consist of the column headings from the lister. The field in the second column contains the actual data, file name, path, etc., for the particular column heading shown for that row in the first column. If the data is too wide for a field, it wraps. The usual operations for the fields in a lister line would be available fields displayed in the new window.

Turning on the MetaData panel and putting it at the bottom of the file display is probably the closest thing to that.

You could also put the filename into the infotip that appears when you hover over a file (or hold Ctrl).
