2-way sync with delete

I'm a recent dicoverer of DO and am mightily impressed  I love the way it can take on the role of several apps, saving me from needing several progs on my pc.

One thing I'd like it to replace is M$ Synctoy, but so far I can't figure out how to get it to do what I need.

I use both a laptop and pc and have some folders on each that I need to keep synced. I edit files/folders on either machine and then need to sync between them, so need to carry out a 2-way sync. I need the latest copy of files/folders to be moved in which ever direction is appropriate, overwriting the older version. I also need DO to delete files/folders from either device if the deletion is more recent than the last edit as can be the case.

I this possible and if so how? Please go easy with me as I'm still trying to get to grips with what everything's called and where it all is.

The delete part isn't possible. There's no way for Opus to know the difference between

  1. Folder A has a new file that needs copying to Folder B.

and

  1. Folder A has a file the was deleted from Folder B and should be deleted from Folder A as well.

Opus will always assume the first situation and maintains no memory of what the directories looked like in the past.

If you want a tool that can deal with more complicated file merge/sync situations - try ViceVersa. It beats the crap out of Beyond Compare, WinMerge, SyncToy, Robocopy, or name your poison.

nudel - ah, that'll be why it can't do it, no memory of history.

Xtraeme - cheers, will check it out
