Window 10 Pro 22H2. I use Acronis True Image 2021 to backup my machines. When I look at the Acronis .tibx backup file with DOpus, it is reporting "Size 12.7TB" on a 6TB USB drive when the actual file size is 3.04TB. Why?
The size comes from the OS/filesystem.
What does File Explorer report for the same file?
It's possible they're using sparse files or another NTFS feature which would allow a much larger file size than is actually used on disk. Although that is very unusual.
It too is reporting the same larger size and yes I ran a disk check against the drive and it reported no problems (even when I forced the check).
The Size vs Size On Disk values there suggest it's either a sparse file or a compressed file.
None of this really involves Opus, though. Opus just reports the file's size, which is what it is. To understand exactly what Acronis is doing, I would ask Acronis.
Thanks for the confirmation. I kinda figured it wasn't DOpus!
