Add 'Fill' sizing option to Image Viewer window

Currently, the image Viewer has 3 options to 'Fit' an image...

Can there also be an option to Fill? Meaning the setting will fill the window frame with the image. It might crop the sides or top depending on the different aspect ratios of the image and the window size. Other image viewers sometimes call this feature 'Fit short edge' or 'Fit Vertical' and 'Fit Horizontal'

Thanks!

An image viewer should show images, but not cropping them.

Absolutely, I agree. To clarify, I didn't exactly mean a crop operation.

If the viewer window and the image aspect ratio don't match, to Fill the window with the image there would be some image content that extends beyond the window boundary. I'll see if I can dig-up an example of this functionality and reply later today.

Cheers!

I understood what you mean, but as said, a viewer is for seeing pictures as they are and not a screen-filling-app like Windows background is able to.

If I used a viewer full-screen or at some other fixed size that is not the identical aspect ratio my picture is in, it would be nice to have a choice of what surrounds the pictures I'm looking at.

So you want some kind of presentation-mode, not a real picture viewer. But I think this is not a main or must have feature for DO. It's mainly a working tool to work with folders and files.

Yea, full screen is exactly what I was thinking about. Like you said Sasa, a presentation mode. In my mind, there's a use case for filling the available screen space in a full-screen view. This would have more to do with the best use of the physical display size in the real world than most accurate representation of the image content.

Just wanted to put it out there that one more sizing option in the viewer could enhance it's usefulness for various workflows.

Thanks for hearing me out.
