Admin Mode - Can not turn on

I can make folders and do anything thing on windows 7 professional service pack 1 that I need to do.

My Admin Mode is greyed out on Directory Opus and I can not turn it on.

I do not have the shortcut set for Run As Administrator in advanced or in Compatibility mode.

Do I need the Admin Mode?

Just Wondering.

If Admin Mode is greyed out, either UAC is turned off system-wide or dopus.exe is already running as administrator (which is a bad idea, if UAC is on).

If the shortcut isn't set to run Opus as admin, it could still have been launched as admin if whatever launched it was already running as admin.

Leo, I am the administrator on my local computer. Should that still keep me from seeing the Admin Mode?

Do you know how UAC works, or are you new to Vista / Windows 7 / Windows 8?

Leo, I am not new to Windows but the User Access Control is not that familiar to me. My understanding is that it is a security feature to shut things down to keep the uniformed from changing Windows settings (i.e. registry settings). I am not sure, however, if UAC is on or off. Starman002

If you try to copy a file (any file) into your "C:\Program Files" directory, does it work immediately or do you get a UAC prompt first?

Go to Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Change User Account Control settings. What do you see?

Actually, if UAC is on, you should get a UAC prompt when you click Change User Account Control settings.

I actually have a similar issue also.

UAC is not disabled and I am not running as administrator but DO thinks I am. I'm guessing that I've messed up something somewhere in Windows, but I haven't a clue where to look.

I've run sfc and a few other tools, but have been avoiding a reset.

Switching UAC to the lowest setting in the control panel, rebooting, then switching it back to the higher setting that you want may fix things.

That did the trick. Thank you.

Brilliant, fixed the problem
