After upgrading to Version 13 no desktop shortcuts are working anymore

I have upgraded my old version of Directory Opus yesterday ( and paid 50 AUS-$ for it). After the first start, I found out that none of my Directory-shortcuts on the desktop are working anymore - Opus directory doesn't start when clicking on the icons. The only way to start Directory Opus was to click on his own Start Menu shortcut. I tried to delete all these shortcuts and then created new ones with the new version - these new created shortcuts did also not open anything.
I would ask You to either provide me a solution or refund my money ( paid with Paypal) because with this behaviour Your program is not useful for me anymore.

What are the icons pointing to? (Are they folders? Shortcuts to something? Shortcuts to Opus itself?)

What happens (instead of Opus opening) when you double-click them?

Thanks for Your response. As I described, all the icons were pointing to folders ( Created: rightclick on folder - create shortcut - cut the created shortcut and posted on the desktop ). All shortcuts worked fine with previous versions.
This was happening when I clicked on the icon ( after update of Directory opus): most times nothing, sometimes an hourglass for 1 or 2 seconds, then again nothing ). When another windows witha running instance of Directory Opus ( started with the start menu icon ) is already open, the shortcuts do work sometimes. Without an instance of Directory Opus already running, they never work.

Have you rebooted since installing Opus 13? The problem could be because an old DLL is still in memory, if you haven't rebooted yet.

Make sure neither dopus.exe nor explorer.exe have been elevated, as that would stop them talking to each other (unless both are elevated, but that's very rare for explorer.exe). More detail here.

Thank You, Leo, for Your response. I have rebooted several times since Directory Opus has been upgraded, the installation process itself was demanding this. I did not run either Directory opus nor Expolorer in Administrator Modus.

By the way, I found several entries in the directory "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive\AppCrash_dopus.exe_e83c50b6c4e057b1f26636b1a7189269de2c5959_99fbdf58_ccecb624-965d-46c7-8e81-540893e3a239". But allthese directories are created before the upgrading process, nevertheless I will post the last of them (converted to Text, since the .wer file is not accepted )

I have completely deinstalled Directory Opus and made a fresh install - now everything seems to work. Thanks for Your help anyway.
