All dDesktop links in WinXP x64 open DOpus after upgrade

I would appreciate learning a way to stop DOpus from opening on clicking each desktop link (existing or created again). I recently upgraded to 8.2.2.5 U.

Some months back I turned off the switch to make DOpus the default file manager. This seemed to have solved the problem I experience with links. After the upgrade the links each open DOpus. DOpus in not the default file manager.

Uninstalling DOpus is one way to return desktop links to normal functionality. What is a less radical way to leave the shortcuts operational?

Thanks kindly.

It might be worth trying to turn on Explorer Replacement mode in Opus (Preferences -> Miscellaneous), press Apply, then turn if back off and Apply again. That should ensure the registry settings are reset to normal.

Leo,

Thanks for your speedy response. I tried the switch you recommended (as well as the others). Nothing has changed the behavior of the icons opening DOpus exclusively. Perhaps I need to make a manual registry change--whatever that might be.

Sorry that didn't do the trick.

These registry settings may be worth a try:

[Using DO with admin rights)

Don't forget to rename entry first so its settings are not left behind, and also so you can get it back if needed.

I have noticed this same behavior in Vista 64 bit at times as well. Perhaps the solution is the same. Reboot.

I thought this was a problem with Vista since I have never run a 64 bit version of XP. But now I see it could be a 64 bit problem instead of a Vista problem.
