Anyone on 24H2 already?

Well, i think it stinks. I don't want to have that spyware called 'Recall' on any of our machines, with no way to eliminate that function. Not only because of home banking, dealing with tons of sensitive data around our music projects, mail adresses, various control apps like iLok et cetera, but for general privacy. Also don't want to spend storage space to hoard useless informations. I'm using Opus to keep my data tidy, plus the help of Everything, keeping an overview. So i will not install that version, until it is made clear in a believable way, that at least this function is removed. Which i doubt, since it is firmly integrated into File Explorer, which is, even though i rarely have to use it, an integral part of the whole OS. It's a shame, really. Looks like i will stick to 24H1 then, as long it is possible. I also can't work on Linux or MacOS, for several reasons, mainly because of inferior file management. :slightly_smiling_face: :beers:

My old computer is already on 24H2 but my main computer has not been able to update to 24H2. On my old computer (24H2) there is no "recall", as far as I know the "recall" is only for AI computers not for all PCs, or maybe I'm wrong.

In an article i have read, that they snuck in that function on some users computer, without informing him. So, even without that special NPU chip, i wouldn't take that risk of having anything like Recall thing running and making 720 screenshots every hour. It's not only a big privacy concern, but also ridiculous.

I still don't believe that the information is true, but if the reality is proven to be like that and there is no way to overcome it, I'd rather move back to Windows 10.

Yeah, Win 10 or 11 24H1 is good enough for me, too. But i guess, GPSoft has to mess around with those new OS versions and its bugs. As usual.

At least until now there is still a way to disable or uninstall recall.

Well yes, you can turn it off (and hope it will stay that way) and delete snapshots. So far so good.
But it doesn't mean, that sensitive data couldn't be sent to Redmond or anywhere else, or some hackers already have figured out some ways to siphon your data onto their computers and what not.

Microsoft proved already unable to get their OneDrive stuff together, but this is a whole different ball park now. And i also worry about my future plans of buying a new computer.

I've been on 24H2 since it dropped. I don't have the npu chip on my motherboard.
Recall has never been installed. I'm good with that.

Have a look at ShutUp10 (freeware).

O&O ShutUp10++ means you have full control over which comfort functions under Windows 10 and Windows 11 you wish to use, and you decide when the passing on of your data goes too far.

In particular:

Disable Windows Copilot+ Recall

Ah, yes, i didn't use the O&O for quite a time. Windows update had tricked me, i should've actively postponed the update, but it's ok, as long i can turn off that stuff. I also don't need any Copilot, i have my own. :grinning:

Wenn Gott Ihr Copilot ist, tauschen Sie den Platz mit ihm.

When/if God is your Copilot, switch places with him/her.

Not exactly, but close enough.
