I just installed version 10.5.5.0 (5170). The application toolbar does not work. When i click on an icon, nothing happens (ok, the icon 'blinks', but the application does not launch). I looked at one icon and the path to the program file is correct. something is broken. i really depend on the application toolbar.

Nothing changed relating to toolbars or launching programs and this seems to work ok here. Maybe try a reboot?
After rebooting my computer, the application toolbar works.
Part of the installation process includes a reboot. Perhaps a revisit into the installation process is warranted.
I've not had this problem before.

Updating has always required a reboot at the end of the install, and should prompt you to do it. (You can choose to skip the reboot, but things won't work properly until you do, if you do that.)
