Audio Workflow With Viewer

Hi, I hope you're enjoying the summer. I'm writing because I can't find a way to focus the Viewer with the keyboard. Specifically, I want to scrub audio using the keyboard only (no mouse). Presently, I can use the Tab key to toggle focus between two folders in a dual horizontal lister but see no way to focus the Viewer. Being able to do so would be useful because then I can use keyboard shortcuts to jump to relevant parts of the audio, adjust volume, change playback speed, etc. The only way I can do it now is with a mouse which is ok but using just the keyboard is faster.

The workflow I'm after is reviewing audio files from old projects to see what to salvage. Sometimes I can't open the project files due to no longer having software installed. This leaves me with raw multitrack audio with contents that may not start for seconds or minutes into the start of the file. Naturally, I have to do a lot of seeking and jumping from keyboard to mouse is inconvenient and slow.

Please let me know if there's a way I can change focus with the keyboard to the Viewer Pane and, if this isn't possible, then I request that this feature be added. It can be added as a command so that users can simply assign whatever hotkey they choose; perhaps Alt+F7 or Alt+Shift+V.

Thanks!

EDIT: Two more feature requests for completeness:

  1. When hitting enter on an audio file, the popup Media Player comes up but does not stop viewer playback. To me, it's only logical that one playback source is active at a given time. A user should have the option to control this behavior.
  2. Hotkeys which work in the Viewer Pane should also work in the popup Media Player. As it is, that is not the case and there's no way I have found to do tasks which are possible in the Viewer Pane such as jumping forward, changing the volume, etc.

Cheers.

The command Set FOCUS=ViewPane will give focus to the viewer, you can assign that to a hotkey via Settings > Customize.

Thank you! I didn't dig deep enough. Here's a link to the relevant section in the manual for those who might be interested. Cheers.
