Auto filename numbering when copying from a certain source

Hi,

I'm wondering about this behaviour.
When I select attachment to save from my Outlook and I copy them to a local folder path, Opus 11 doesn't ask me to overwrite existing filenames. It appends (n) number at the end of the filename.

When copying from left pane window to right (different folder paths) it indeed asks for overwrite.

How do I set Opus not to create (n) increments in the filename, but to ask for overwrite every time ?

Thanks.
cosmo

The difference is between pasting real files that are already on disk somewhere and being copied to a new place, and pasting virtual files which only exist as a stream of data in memory.

There isn't currently a way to make the virtual file case behave differently (at least not without some complex scripting or an extra program that runs when you paste).

Hi Leo,

thanks for answering. Since Windows explorer handles it this way (it asks for overwrite, even if it's copied from mail through the clipboard), I was led to believe it is a matter of some setting, not a complex script.

Isn't it ?
Thanks, cosmo.

This reminds me of the copy & paste issue over RDP sessions. DO will not overwrite existing files and folders as Explorer does, probably because there are virtual files involved here as well. DO currently creates "... (1)" items in this scenario, similar to what you descibe blippo.
Whenever that happens it is quite irritating, so maybe that can be changed to how Explorer handles it - anywhen? o)
