Is there an option to automatically set the Lister to Thumbnails View when opening a directory that contains only image files? That would be very helpful.

However, it would be helpful if the Automatic Content Type Format for Images would be set only if at least 50% of the files in the folder are image files (including SVG files).
You can set the percentage to whatever you want via the Options tab when editing the Content Type format.
The extensions come from the File Type Group in Settings > File Types.
