Backed up config, uninstalled prog, installed on new laptop

I am having a tough time restoring the folder display to what I thought it used to be. I think on my old laptop, the full folder name would always be displayed in the lister folder area. Now, after the reinstall and restore of the config settings, it seems to be acting differently. If for example, I have a folder on my desktop, I seem to remember that before it would show in the folder name area the following: c:\users<myusername>\Desktop<foldername> always. Now, however, it only shows the final . If I click on the area, it does show the full path selected, but as soon as I click off, the full path goes away and the end is shown. Strangely, if it's not my desktop folder, it does show the full path. I was going to upload the 2 images of the different situations for you, but it seems I can't upload anything.

Now, I did try to find the option in the settings, but suffice to say, and I'm sure I'm not letting out of the bag, the options are extremely numerous and not sure which one is the one I want.

Thanks,
Don Bouchard

Try -> preferences -> file displays -> borders -> "show static header".

Folders below Desktop can behave like that, if you navigate to them via the Desktop folder. This is how the Desktop namespace works in Windows.

If you navigate to them via the real C:\Users... path then that real path will be displayed.
